Use it for identifier formats, search behavior, and country-specific caveats. Wyoming supports two modes on a single data block: * **Onboarding** (`mode: "onboarding"`, fast, non-authoritative). Returns a quick summary built from the register's public search index: legal name, Filing ID, legal form, and status. It does not include addresses, registration date, officers, or the registered agent. Use it for fast identity resolution during onboarding flows. * **Verification** (`mode: "verification"`, the default, authoritative). Returns the full register record read live from the entity's WyoBiz detail page: everything in the onboarding summary plus the registered/principal-office address, the registration date, directors and officers, and the registered agent. Use it when you need the complete, authoritative profile. **Mode-based routing.** Onboarding requests are served fast from the register's public search index and return a non-authoritative summary. Verification requests read the live register detail page and return the full authoritative record, including address, directors and officers, and the registered agent. ## Company Identifiers ### Query Identifiers | Identifier Type | Format | Example | Notes | | --------------- | ---------------- | ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Filing ID** | `YYYY-NNNNNNNNN` | `2004-000464709` | Wyoming Secretary of State primary identifier (year + 9-digit sequence) | The Filing ID is the only identifier supported for company retrieval. To find a Filing ID from a name, use the search endpoint first. The `YYYY` prefix of the Filing ID is the year the entity registered with the Wyoming Secretary of State (the qualification year for foreign entities), not the entity's incorporation date. It is year-granularity only, so do not treat it as `registrationDate`. For broader matches, use shorter prefixes. ## Quirks & Gotchas | Quirk | Details | | -------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Wyoming is a privacy state** | Wyoming does not require LLCs to disclose members or managers in public filings. Only the organizer who filed the articles appears on the entity record. | | **No shareholder or UBO register** | Wyoming does not publish shareholders or beneficial owners for any entity type. The federal CTA/FinCEN is a separate system. | | **No activity codes** | The Wyoming Secretary of State does not collect NAICS or industry classification codes. | | **Registered agent standing** | Wyoming tracks three separate standings: Tax, Registered Agent (RA), and Other. All three must be "Good" for a Certificate of Good Standing to be issued. | | **Officers require verification mode** | Directors, officers, and the registered agent come from the entity's register detail page. They are returned in verification mode only, not in the onboarding summary. | | **Dual role labels** | Corporate officers may hold combined roles (e.g. "President / Director"). These are mapped to the primary role. | | **Trade names and trademarks** | Trade Name and Trademark registrations appear in WyoBiz as entity types but are not legal entities. They are mapped with standardized form `Other`. | ## Mappings ### Company Status Status comes from the WyoBiz entity status field. "Active" is the only in-good-standing state. All other statuses begin with "Inactive -" followed by a specific reason. "Current" means the entity has a 2-year reinstatement window; "Archived" means it can no longer reinstate. ### Legal Forms Legal form is derived from the WyoBiz Filing Details `Type` field.
